Pentecost
Thu 21 May 2026It was lovely to see the school looking so bright and cheerful today as the children wore flame coloured clothes to mark Pentecost. Pentecost is a major Christian festival celebrated 50 days after Easter. It commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles and other followers of Jesus, an event that empowered them to spread their message and is widely regarded as the "birthday" of the Christian Church.

Barracks Visit
Thu 21 May 2026The EYFS children have had a great time this week on their trip to the barracks. The children were very lucky to visit the soldiers and learn all about their uniform, equipment and musical instruments. They have been learning how this has changed over time to keep everybody safe and also how the soldiers communicate with each other. The children also went to the stables where they observed the soldiers riding and bathing the horses while also seeing how they muck out the stables. Some of the children were able to watch the farrier applying new shoes to the horses and they were also given the opportunity to feed them! Thank you to the Foundation team for organising such a lovely trip.

Winton House
Thu 21 May 2026Our Year 4 children regularly walk down to Winton House Care Home to spend time with the residents, and a group of children went for a visit yesterday. It is such a valuable experience for all involved as the children spend time talking with the residents, telling stories and sharing some of their learning with them. This week, the children dressed up and helped Reverend Rosie present the story of Pentecost. The children also joined in with singing hymns and they shared their prayers.

Parent visit
Fri 15 May 2026Year 1 have been exploring Judaism this term, and Angles class enjoyed a very special visit from Mrs Gould, Rupert's mum. She shared how her family celebrates Shabbat at home, bringing in items including a prayer book, a kiddush cup and a kippah. The children loved seeing these treasured objects up close and learning how they are used. A big thank you to Mrs Gould for making our learning so memorable!

Colour Run
Fri 15 May 2026Thank you to everyone who came to our Colour Run on Sunday. The children and parents took part in a fun run between Clewer and Oakfield, and although the weather was chilly, there was a wonderful atmosphere, and everyone took part with great smiles and good cheer. Thank you to everyone who organised this event, to those who took part, and to those who kindly donated.

Gardening Day
Fri 08 May 2026Year 3 and 4 took part in Clewer Green’s First Garden Action Day. Woolley Firs volunteers came in to help us plant seeds and herbs that had been kindly donated by parents, build bird boxes for the school grounds, construct a hibernaculum as a shelter for animals who need to hibernate over winter and put in summer bedding plants across the school. Lots of bunting was also created to celebrate an area of the school field which has been designated for no mow May. We were very lucky to have some fantastic parent volunteers to help make the day a great success, a big shout out to Mrs Flisher, Mrs Cutter and Mrs Mansour who spent the day tirelessly gardening and organising. The children loved getting involved; this would not be possible without the support of parents and our wonderful parent’s group who have installed a new hosepipe to help us water everything and keep it looking healthy.

Year 4 Residential
Fri 01 May 2026Our Year 4 children went on their residential trip to Lodge Hill in Pulborough. The weather was glorious, and we had a great time. We took part in archery, fencing, wall climbing, low ropes, orienteering, team building, circus skills and sno-tubing. We went on a night hike and the children had 3 days of fun and exploring. A huge thank you to the team that went who ensured the children were looked after and had a great time, and to Mrs Hawkes for organising such a wonderful experience for the children.
