Stone Age Art: Tudors - Oct 2023

Art this term is linked to our History topic "Stone Age to Iron Age" and in Tudors, we have represented Stone Age Art in a number of ways. First, we sketched native animals in our sketchbooks using key geometric shapes to help us. Then we scaled up our drawings using charcoal. Next,by adding sand and then colour to card, we represented the rough surfaces of cave walls where much of the Stone Age art can be found. We drew our native animals and symbols onto our "walls" again with charcoal and using only the light of a candle as early Stone Age artists would have done in their caves. Finally, we created positive and negative handprints sticking to colours suggested by the natural dyes available at the time.
