Music
INTENT, IMPLEMENTATION AND IMPACT
MUSIC INTENT
Our Music curriculum aims to instil in each of our learners that music is one of the highest forms of creativity that can be used as a universal language. Delivering the National Curriculum, we provide quality teaching to engage and inspire learners, to support their development of a love of music and to cultivate their talent as musicians. We aim to develop confidence and creativity across a range of musical genres and to provide a sense of achievement through a range of performance opportunities both in and out of school. As they progress through the school, learners will develop a critical engagement with music, allowing them to both listen with intent and to compose their own pieces.
MUSIC IMPLEMENTATION
Clewer Green recognises the vital contribution of Music to a child’s cognitive, social, and emotional development, as well as its value in developing spiritual and communal life. It is key in allowing children to express their feelings and ideas freely, and to embrace different cultures and genres. Music provides an opportunity for individual excellence as well as a powerful way to promote and sustain teamwork through performers coming together using a universal language.
Through teaching the key elements of Music: listening, composing, performance and study of music, we can help our children‘s confidence, well-being and sense of achievement. The curriculum aims to promote creativity and inspiration and we encourage our children to take part in a variety of performances throughout the school year. Children have one specific lesson of Music per week. There are also cross-curricula links to many other key subjects.
MUSIC IMPACT
At Clewer Green, we aim for our Music provision to impact our learners in the following ways;

- To be inspired to learn new pieces and acquire new musical skills
- To respect and encourage others when they are performing
