INTENT, IMPLEMENTATION AND IMPACT
ART AND DESIGN INTENT
Art and Design plays an important role in the curriculum and provides the opportunity for creativity and individual expression. We aim to engage, inspire and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. The curriculum will give children the chance to explore and become proficient in a range of skills, working with a variety of materials and the opportunity to display and share their work. By evaluating and analysing their own and others work, learners will develop confidence and resilience in their skills.
ART AND DESIGN IMPLEMENTATION
At Clewer Green, we believe that Art and Design has an essential contribution to creativity and the culture, wealth and well-being of the school. The teaching of this subject will provide learners with an opportunity to:
- produce creative work, exploring their ideas and recording their experiences
- become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques
- evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art, craft and design
- know about great artists, craft makers and designers, and understand the historical and cultural development of their art forms.
ART AND DESIGN IMPACT
At Clewer Green, the aim of our Art and Design provision will impact children in the following ways:
- Learners will understand what it means to be an 'artist' and build the skills and confidence to be able to express themselves in different ways.
- Learners will be able to independently choose and apply different techniques to produce creative work, explore ideas and record their experiences.
- Learners will become more proficient in their art techniques which will be evidenced in their sketch books which they begin at the end of the Foundation Stage.
- Learners will enthusiastically talk about artists that they have studied and share their ideas about example of Art and Design work.
- Learner's enjoyment for this subject will be highlighted when walking through corridors or in classrooms where artwork is proudly displayed.
