Wilder Schools Initiative
Year 3 showed the school what we have been doing this year to make our school ‘wilder’. This is important to improve biodiversity, whilst helping children develop a lasting connection with nature and in turn ensure nature is valued and protected into the future. We took part in the RSB birdwatch, did lots of planting, made habitats to encourage creatures into the school grounds, put aside a no mow area, and finally visited Woolley Furs as part of our science learning. The children shared all their achievements with the rest of the school in a special assembly, as well as thanking parent volunteers without whom this would not be possible. We have had a great year learning about bringing nature into our school.
