Absence

If your child is ill, please telephone the school before 9.30am to let us know that your child will not be in. If it is a more lengthy illness, please still call in every morning to let us know. Also, we do require a written note from you on your child’s return to school for our records within 2 weeks. If you have booked a school meal for the day when your child is ill you will also need to let us know. We cannot credit meals where your child has been cooked for.

It is not practice for the school to send home work for the children during periods of illness. We feel that if your child is not well enough to come in to school, then they will probably be too poorly to do any meaningful homework.

If you are unable to book any routine dental or GP appointments outside of school hours please try to give us advanced notice of this. We can then arrange for your child to be ready for collection at the appropriate time.

It is a legal requirement for your child to be in school during term time, but is also and more significantly, important for your child’s education to be here as much as possible. Therefore we ask that you try to avoid taking your children out of school for holidays. If you have to take your child out of school for such reasons please ask for a Term Time Holiday Request Form from the office. Requests for term time holidays will then be considered by the Governors, but in accordance with Government guidelines will only be authorised under very exceptional circumstances, and will generally be unauthorised.

Here at Clewer Green we have always enjoyed a good attendance record. Absenteeism without any explanation is deemed as being unauthorised, and therefore we have a responsibility to feed this information back to the Local Authority. It is imperative then, that you inform the School of any absences.
